A resident of San Pedro rescued a puppy from the middle of the road in Belize City in the middle of traffic on October 31st.  She brought her to San Pedro Animal Hospital where emergency care was given.  The puppy was emaciated and suffering from multiple illnesses including a contagious form of mange called scabies.  Her rescuers were concerned that euthanasia may be necessary, but when the puppy was offered food she ate it eagerly.

After 2 weeks of treatment Angel is a happy plump puppy full of energy and a full coat of hair!  She has been treated for mange, tick fever, and a nutritional calcium deficiency commonly known as “rickets”.  Her rescuers paid for her initial treatments and two nights of boarding, but when it became apparent that they would need a place to keep her until a home was found, San Pedro Animal Hospital donated free boarding for the last two weeks.  San Pedro Animal Foundation has provided additional treatments for her illnesses, as well as her first vaccinations.  Now we are happy to report that not only is Angel happy and healthy…she has found a home and will be leaving us this week!  She is a quick learner – she already knows how to sit and she loves her crate.  We will miss her but we know she will be an excellent companion for her new family.
